Adventure Biking After many years of mountainbiking, randonneuring and touring, it finally all comes full circle with "adventure biking". Some folks call it "pass hunting" or "rough stuff riding" but it's generally the same thing. I'd say the defining factor is that one both rides to the trails or unpaved roads, explores them and then rides back again. Same bike for all. The S24O (sub 24 hour overnight) has given this form of riding some great new touring opportunities and my friends have been taking forays into the Cascades and NoCal. I live on the Olympic Peninsula, so that's my playground. 650b bikes have become highly popular for this sort of thing, but I've been using 700c x 30 Gran Bois tires. Works well enough until my 650b is done. Olympic Peninsula Bon Jon Pass Ride - June 29, 2007 |
